LOBBY THE ORGANISATION OF ISLAMIC COOPERATION

Protect Palestine calls upon the Organisation of Islamic states to urgently establish an armed coalition of states to stop the genocide against Palestinians, ensure unhindered aid, protect civilians and gaurantee the Palestinian right to self determination.
Ahead of the meeting of Senior Officials taking place in Jeddah, Saudia Arabia from 27-29th April 2025, we call upon people worldwide to encourage representatives of the OIC to place discussions on a protective force for Palestine on the international agenda.
While we encourage members to use their own style, a template email can be found below:
Your Excellency,
I write to you with deep urgency as you prepare to convene for the Senior Officials Meeting in Jeddah on 27-29 April 2025 at this critical moment in history.
As a Member State of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation — the collective voice of over 1.8 billion Muslims / 57 nations — you carry the hopes of millions who look to you and more broadly the OIC for principled, courageous leadership in the face of injustice.
Today, that injustice is beyond question. For over 18 months, the world has witnessed Israel’s brutal and systematic genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza. Tens of thousands of men, women, and children have been killed. Hospitals, schools, and places of worship have been reduced to rubble. The basic elements of life — food, water, medicine — have been deliberately denied to an entire civilian population.
Despite global outrage and legal proceedings underway at the International Court of Justice, the onslaught continues unabated. It is no longer enough to issue statements of condemnation or call for ceasefires that are ignored. As concerned people of conscience, we look now to the OIC to fulfill the duties it has declared for decades.
The OIC Charter affirms its unwavering commitment to “Support the Palestinian people in their struggle to regain their rights and to liberate their land and to establish their national independent sovereignty and state.” (Article 1, Clause 7)
And the OIC 2025 Programme of Action further declares the Organisation’s resolve to:
“Enhance the OIC’s capacity to respond effectively to emergencies and conflicts in Member States, with a special focus on Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif” and “Strengthen mechanisms for solidarity, including collective action, to counter external aggression, occupation, and oppression in the Islamic world.” (Goal 1.4 & Goal 2.1)
In this spirit, we respectfully but firmly call on the OIC and its Member States to take the bold and morally necessary step of establishing and deploying an armed protection force to Gaza in line with the Islamic principle of “he who saves a life, it is as if he has saved all of humanity” and the legal obligation to put an end to genocide.
The force should have an emergency mandate to
- Prevent further acts of genocide and protect civilians
- Ensure unhindered humanitarian aid to the population of Gaza
- Uphold the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination;
- And enforce international law where global powers have failed to do so
Such action would not only be consistent with the OIC’s Charter and the 2025 Programme of Action — it would represent their highest realization. The people of the Muslim world — and indeed, of all faiths and nations — will rise in support of any serious effort led by the OIC to stop the slaughter and protect Palestine.
This is a moment that will define the legacy of this Organisation. Future generations will remember the decisions made in Jeddah this April. Will the Member States of the OIC rise to protect the oppressed and fulfill the Organisation’s mission — or will the OIC remain a bystander as one of the greatest crimes of the century unfolds?
The world is watching. The people are waiting. The time is now.
With deep respect and urgent hope,
